From contemporary looks inspired by the catwalk to the shoemaker’s craft, perfected over time, one name says it all: Clarks. As the world number one in ‘everyday footwear’, Clarks designs, innovates, manufactures and sell more than 50 million pairs of shoes every year.
Founded in 1825 by brothers Cyrus and James, Clarks is still a privately owned business and based in their birthplace of Street, Somerset, UK. Today Clarks is global business, selling shoes in over 35 countries around the world.
In the archive of more than 22,000 Clarks styles are shoes that have sparked a revolution, defined a generation and captured the imagination. Like the iconic Clarks Desert Boot. Designed by Nathan Clark, launched in 1950, its appeal endures to this day.
Converse began in 1908 as a rubber shoe company specialising in galoshes. Soon after, they’ve started using the rubber to make sneakers. In 1920, Converse renamed their canvas basketball sneaker the “All Star” with the Chuck Taylor (or “Chucks” as we learned to refer to them) becoming the most popular. Converse made their sneakers with the intention to sink jump shots on the court. But it’s fans started to wear them wherever they wanted. On stages, for skating, as fashion or at work doing everything to them and in them. There’re not many shoes of such continuing relevance within pop culture like Converse are and their story continues. The Jack Purcell is one of Tuffi Shop’s favourite in all of its variations.
Deus Ex MachinaDeus ex Machina (“god from the machine”) roared into Australia’s cultural consciousness in 2006, with some neatly customised motorcycles and a quaint notion that doing something is more fun than just owning something. Deus ex Machina is a step bigger than a brand: it’s a culture. Their openness and enthusiasm strike a chord with people, wherever they are…Deus (spoken “day-us”) didn’t set out only to sell custom parts and hand-built motorcycles, but to celebrate a culture of creativity.
Being the inventor of “stone washing” Edwin revolutionized the entire denim industry. The brand was established in Japan by Mr Tsunemi in the late 1940s with a strong passion for denim. At first he started to import them directly from the United States as no denim was manufactured in Japan by that time. Living up to one of Nippon’s core values and within less than 5 years Mr. Tsunemi made sure that domestically manufactured denim became available for the first time in Japan in 1951, but it takes him another decade to produce his first pair of jeans from it. It is the world’s heaviest ringspun denim jeans (16oz), featuring the famous three-colour rainbow selvedge, which is still being used today. In the 1970s Edwin becomes the first company in the world to develop an ‘old wash’, designed to replicate denim which has been worn from its rigid, unwashed state traditionally designed for workwear due to its durability. Little did anyone know by then, that the process of ‘washing’ would become a standard for the whole denim industry until today. Edwin Europe was founded at the beginning of the millennium to develop exclusive product for the European market and bring a selection of Japanese items to a new audience.

Based on this concept, the team behind ‘Melou Clothing Company’ designs their products from scratch, creating unique pieces that reflect all of our daily needs.
In 1905, Charles Beckman, a successful local shoe merchant, created the Red Wing Shoe Company. The original work boot from Red Wing’s first year featured leather, buckles and laces for a secure fit. With the introduction of boots for oil field workers, Red Wing started developing specialty work boots to meet specific occupational needs and has perfected their business over more than a 100 years. 2016 sees the introduction of Red Wing’s Women’s Heritage Line celebrating the brand’s 90 year history of making indispensable footwear for independent women. Since a lot of today’s street fashion is inspired by work wear, Red Wing is a natural fit to accomplish one’s daily outfit. Regardless, if you choose Classic MOCs, Chukkas or tall boots, you can’t go wrong with these tough and timeless pieces of footwear.
Tuffi Shop is proud to welcome one of Streetwear’s pioneering brands: Stüssy! Originally invented by Californian surf head Shawn Stüssy as comfortable gear when not on the lookout for new waves and DIY to the core by taking old army cargo pants, cutting them down to shorts and signing them with his now famous name tag no one would have known that this would become the corner stone of a more than three decades running business. Shawn sold his brand already in the early nineties and we at Tuffi carefully observed the directions the brand took. Looking at their current and upcoming collection we’re so stoked to see that the brand is back on its core values and absolutely fresh!
